Cory Bell

President & CEO

Starting as a Project Engineer, Cory joined Lindsay Construction in 1999. From that point to when he became President in 2009, he progressed through all operational positions within the organization, a history which contributes to his appreciation for all facets of the job. The core of his business philosophy is rooted in excellence, as it applies to projects, teams and client satisfaction.

Widely regarded for his commitment to philanthropy and community, Cory is a long-time supporter of causes around children and cancer.  He cofounded Trailblazer for Cancer, a flagship community fundraiser and sits on the Board of Directors of both the IWK Foundation and Children’s Wish Foundation. Cory is also an active supporter of the United Way, Queen Elizabeth Health Sciences Centre, Habitat for Humanity, and Halifax Hospice, among many others. In 2016 he received the Courage to Give Back Award from Family S.O.S. and in 2017 he received the Inspire Award from Big Brothers and Big Sisters.

In addition to his philanthropic commitments, Cory believes in contributing to Atlantic Canada’s economic growth. He has served on numerous industry boards and volunteers his time to several start-up companies. He is presently a Director and Vice Chair of Halifax Partnership in addition to Chair of the Economic Strategy Advisory Committee (Term 2022-2027).

A graduate of Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Science and the Technical University of Nova Scotia with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering, Cory has been named a five-time Top 50 CEO by Atlantic Business Magazine and in 2018 was inducted into their Hall of Fame. Cory also received the 2018 EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award in the Business to Business Category.

Under Cory’s leadership as CEO, Lindsay Construction has grown into one of Canada’s leading diversified construction firms and named one of Deloitte’s Best Managed Companies in each of the past 7 years earning Platinum status.

Chief Operating Officer

Integrity, commitment, and passion - these are the core qualities that Devin Hartnell utilizes daily as the Chief Operating Officer of Lindsay Construction. Devin oversees operational growth and development for the company and has helped build a team of over 500 employees in offices across Atlantic Canada. His keen sense for business, respect for others, and focus on relationship building has contributed to unprecedented growth for Lindsay Construction.

With Devin’s expertise in all building types, he has led the organization’s expansion across all sectors. Finding, training, and keeping top talent at Lindsay Construction is one of his top priorities. Bringing together the best people in an innovative and collaborative environment helps keep Lindsay Construction on the cutting edge of the construction industry and is why Lindsay’s has grown to who they are today.

Devin graduated with his Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from Michigan Technological University followed by a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Saint Mary’s University. He lives in Fall River, NS with his amazing wife and their five children. Devin enjoys coaching and taking his kids to their many activities! Devin’s passion for education and his commitment to future generations has also led him to found Summit Academy, a revolutionary independent school in Bedford, NS.

Chief Financial Officer

As Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer, Jeff brings a strong combination of strategic business planning and fiscal management experience to his leadership role. He is responsible for all of the company’s financial functions including accounting, auditing and the implementation of management information systems. 

Jeff’s career spans more than 25 years of varied experience in financial management, business leadership and corporate strategy with a number of prominent Nova Scotian companies. He has led the Lindsay Construction organization throughout several leadership transition phases and has played an instrumental role in the company’s expansion and growth strategy. 

Jeff has a Bachelor of Commerce from Saint Mary’s University and holds the designation of Chartered Accountant. He has also served as Vice President of Finance for The Chronicle Herald and the Dennis Family and was Senior Vice President of Finance for Clarke Inc.’s transportation holdings. He is also a Volunteer board member for Truro Raceway Limited as Secretary Treasurer.
